A big thank you to the 2 sites below for their wonderful collections of free WordPress headers

Header Art -   free and will do additional custom work on any of the headers for a fee if you’re interested

The Blog Boutique – free, but like the above, offers a paid service for help and more customizations

To replace the default header on this blog with a custom one I simply:

• clicked on the headers I liked at to view them in full
• right-clicked to save them to my desktop
• followed the directions specific to the theme I’m using (Mandigo for this blog) at Custom Headers
  (I chose to upload header images to the images/headers/ subfolder and enable the “random headers” feature)

To resize the images, I used the free graphics editor IrfanView
