Best USB Microphone?

This was to upgrade from the make-do-in-the-meaning solution I wrote about in Using Audio to Test & Create Information Products.
On the strength of a recommendation from a professional composer I contacted, I was about to go for a Blue Snowball Mic The Blue Snowball has a good reputation and looks very cool too.
BUT then a programmer/musician friend of mine found a review at Mac World that offered sound samples from several USB mics -- mics that be can used with both PCs and Macs. I provide a link to the review furthur down so you can sample too.
After reading several reviews, listening to the sound samples and watching video clips on YouTube, including the one below, I decided to get the Samson G Track instead of the Blue Snowball.
The Samson G Track was the best USB microphone to my ear and offered suitable features to record guitar, etc!

If you aren’t going to buy right away, be sure to add the G track to your Amazon wish list or bookmark the page. I neglected to do that at first and kept thinking it was ‘Samsung G Track’ instead of ‘Samson’ which resulted in 0 hits on Amazon when I went back there to read more. lol

P.S lf you’re Canadian, like me, you’ll need to have Amazon ship it to a friend or relative in the US so that person can ship it to you.
Yes, for some reason they won’t ship this item to Canada or Australia. Many of the other US dealers who carry it at a good price have the same policy, at least for Canadians! The Canadian sources I found cost a LOT more. So, even with the extra charge for shipping and the exchange rate, the savings were worthwhile for the extra hassle. I didn’t pay duty but there are no guarantees I guess.

Far too many people overlook the importance of sound, unfortunately good sound often goes un noticed, its only when the sound is bad that its ever really payed attention to. So have good sound, that way people listen to what you have to say rather than how bad the sound quality is. thanks

Mate of mine has the Blue Snowball – looks very cool. Has switchable pattern – use the cardioid to record one person talking or switch to omni and put the mic in middle of a table for conference calls.

sound is most important. don’t overlook it. everyone goes on about picture quality HD this and that, but audio quality is just as important.
I agree. Sound is VERY important. Some people are forgiving, but many are not. Crackles and hisses just don’t cut it.

For a USB mic it’s excellent if you want something that is both versatile and affordable at the same time.

Looks like that is the best USB Microphone that I have ever heard of. I would love to have this Samsung G Track too. I would include this in my gift for myself list. LOL!

For xmas I enjoy getting gift certificates to my favorite online stores. An Amazon gift card is on
my list this year. Handy when buying things like this microphone, but I needed the mic long
before xmas so I paid for it myself.
Lillea, how much did you get it for? I’ve seen them listed for around $250, do you know of a place with a better deal?

I bought it via the links in this post for about $130 US plus shipping (my friend in the US shipped it to me because
they wouldn’t ship to Canada, but at least it was shipped for free to her so I didn’t pay twice for that).
Hope that helps! I haven’t seen it for less yet, usually a lot more like the price you quote.
